We believe that curriculum is the key to students seeing themselves as learners who can develop the skills and knowledge they need, work across cultures and persevere to achieve success. Learning and teaching is central in all activities of our College.
The Redlynch State College curriculum is a cohesive and cumulative approach to teaching, learning and assessment across Prep – Year 12 that:
- maximises the learning of all students
- recognises and celebrates diversity
- engages all students in intellectually challenging learning experiences
- provides students with clear guidelines on what they are learning and how they will be assessed
- involves a range of teaching strategies to meet different learning needs and explicit teaching to scaffold students' learning.
Our teachers hold high expectations for all students and value the resources that they bring from their home and community. The Redlynch State College curriculum supports all students to develop a deep understanding of important subject matter and the intellectual tools and strategies to think for themselves and manage their own learning.
Redlynch State College has implemented the Australian Curriculum (http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/Home) across P-10 for all key learning areas, with the focus on every student succeeding.
Students in Years 11 and 12 undertake a number of pathways to achieve their QCE (Queensland Certificate Education). This could involve ATAR eligible subjects for students wishing to progress to university or a number of Certificate courses that provide qualifications in areas such as construction, hospitality, recreational studies and personal training prior to completion of schooling. All subjects are QCAA approved by the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority (http://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au).
Redlynch State College prides itself in developing individual pathways that enable students to exit school with qualifications and qualities that will set them on the right path for their future. Senior Education and Training Plan (SET) begins in the middle phase of learning to help students determine what their future pathways may be. Teachers and students work together to ensure that they exit with the correct prerequisites for transitioning into the career of their choice.
Redlynch State College has partnered with several registered training organisations inlcuding CQUniversity, Blue Dog Training, Blueprint, and Skills Generation adding industry specific courses to our extenstive curriculum offerings.
LANGUAGES
Education Queensland provides a Languages program. Japanese, French and Spanish are offered at Redlynch State College:
- Primary: Core: Japanese, one lesson per week
- Year 7: Japanese/French/Spanish, 1x70min lessons per week
- Year 8: Core: Japanese/French, 2x70min lessons per week
- Year 9: Elective: Japanese/French, 2x70min lessons per week
- Year 10-12: Elective: Japanese/French, 3x70min lessons per week
