Community Education Counsellor

​​The Community Education Counsellor duties focus on promoting student success, wellbeing and assisting the school community.

These duties include:

  • Support students’ learning in and outside the classroom; liaison with teachers, staff and students about school academia and classroom performance
  • Liaison with the Redlynch State College community, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community, parents and Cairns Agencies
  • Coordinate and organise multicultural and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander celebrations for the school community
  • Liaison with Indigenous vocational agencies and tertiary institutions
  • Networking with Community Educational Counsellors in the FNQ region and attending various Indigenous Leadership Workshops
  • Coordinate and organise the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander leadership programs; such as Indigenous Leaders of Tomorrow (ILT) and Indigenous Leaders of the Future (ILF Secondary Campus and Primary Campus)
  • Liaise with/and assist College administration
  • Coordinate and organise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ involvement in the many school functions, excursions and school camps
  • Apply for grants to promote the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander student body wellbeing
  • Coordinate and organise Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultural activities for the International students
  • Contribute to the Positive Behavioural Learning Program, Rock/Water Program, Resilience classes and being a part of the Student Services wellbeing team.
