Health and Physical Education

​​The Health and Physical Education program provides students with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of physical activities. Within the program students will have the opportunity to learn to apply more specialised movement skills, complex movement strategies and concepts in different movement environments. They also explore movement concepts and strategies to evaluate and refine their own and others’ movement performances. The curriculum also provides opportunities for students to refine and consolidate personal and social skills in demonstrating leadership, teamwork and collaboration in a range of physical activities.
HPE is a compulsory subject for students in Years 7-10.

The HPE department offers a number of senior subjects from the general,
applied and VET categories. Physical Education and Health Education are
general subjects which focus on preparing students for sport and health
courses at university.
Sport and Recreation is offered and is an applied subject. It provides students with the opportunities to learn in, through and about recreation activities. The Certificate III in Fitness (with an embedded Certificate II in Sport and Recreation), Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation and Certificate II in Health Support Services & Certificate II in Community Services (dual qualification) provide students the opportunity to gain certificates to enhance their job opportunities beyond Year 12.

Students in these courses work through modules of work that have a hands on approach to job related and technical skills. All senior subject provide a range of
career pathways in the sport and health areas.


Students can also choose to apply for specialist programs:


  • Football Engagement Program in Years 8-10 aimed at developing student’s
    engagement and resilience through football


  • Athlete Development Program in Years 8-10 where students develop
    transferable skills and a deeper understanding of high-performance sport in
    a challenging environment.

  • Netball Academy consists of two student groups, a Junior group Years 7-9 and a Secondary group Year 10-12. Training days occur once a week before
    or after school. Students have the opportunity to develop their skills and
    gameplay in netball.


  • Outdoor Recreation in Year 7 students have the opportunity to choose
    to participate in one term of Outdoor Recreation. Students in Years
    8-10 participate in a full year of Outdoor Recreation activities. Activities
    students will participate in include many adventure-based activities such as
    mountain biking, hiking, rafting, camping abseiling and climbing.
