Redlynch State College uses a house system to coordinate all of its 3 major interhouse sporting competitions. New students to the school are randomly assigned to one of four house groups. Younger siblings are put into the same house as their elder siblings.
These 4 houses are named after water features found in the nearby Freshwater Creek.
School Mascot
The school's mascot is the dragon. The dragon chosen originates from the Boyd's Forest Dragon that is located in the local rainforest throughout Redlynch valley. It has been designed to demonstrate determination and commitment in all we endeavour to do. When you look at the stance, the look in its eye and grit of the teeth, these characteristics shine through.
Interhouse Carnivals
Throughout the school year each student is given the opportunity to represent their house in various carnivals and house cup challenges. Interhouse Carnivals are held early in the year:
- Swimming (Secondary Campus)
- Cross Country (Primary & Secondary Campuses)
- Track and Field (Primary & Secondary Campuses)
From these carnivals, a school team is selected to attend the TCN district carnival. Students who perform well are then selected to represent the district at the Peninsula regional carnival. At the regional carnival students who attain qualifying standards can be selected to represent Peninsula at State Championships.
