Cairns located in the tropical north eastern region in the state of Queensland. With a population of 160 000, it is considered the gateway to the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef alongside the ancient World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest.

Cairns Weather

With a tropical climate, Cairns has very mild winters from May to September with an average temperature of 25-27 degrees. Summer temperatures are warmer from November to April, averaging 30- 32 degrees, and this is our wet season with plenty of cool rainfall which increases the humidity.

We sometimes experience cyclones during the summer months. Although they can be severe, there are strict procedures and safety precautions that all residents undertake.
