Homestay
Education Queensland International (EQI) External link develops and promotes programs for international students with a secure and welcoming place to live and practise their English language skills in a real home setting. Most students attend high school but the length of their stay in Queensland will vary.
A homestay host must provide:
- a clean, safe and friendly home
- private bedroom and suitable storage space for their clothes and personal belongings
- three nutritious meals per day, assistance to access transport to and from school

All members of the host family over the age of 18 must have a blue card clearance which is organised through the school. More information can be found on the Blue Card Services website External link.
Accommodation
The International Homestay Coordinator organises homestay accommodation for all international students.
- Each Australian homestay family is interviewed and visited by the school at their home.
- We work hard to ensure students are placed with safe and caring homestay families.
- All students enjoy and benefit greatly from the homestay experience. All of our homestay parents are very friendly and enjoy having students from other countries live with them.
- With the support from the school and homestay parents, international students soon become used to the different customs, climate, food and language as well as the different education system.
- Homestay accommodation provides an opportunity for international students to integrate more easily into the local community and to develop life-long friendships with their Australian host family.
