At Redlynch State College, the Science curriculum for Years 7 to 10 follows the Australian Curriculum, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, and problem-solving abilities. Students explore key disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth & Space Sciences, through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based learning. The curriculum emphasises critical thinking, data analysis, and practical application, preparing students for senior science subjects. Expert teachers guide students in understanding scientific concepts and applying them to real-world contexts.
Additionally, students have opportunities to choose Science Enrichment as an elective subject in Years 9 and 10. Science Enrichment emphasises inquiry-based learning and the practical application of concepts. This year-long course allows students to delve into topics and scientific investigations beyond the year level curriculum. Students engage in activities that develop skills in questioning, hypothesising, predicting, planning and conducting investigations, and data analysis. Assessments may include report writing, folios of work, experimental design, and presentations.
Students who are passionate and excel in science can apply for the Science & Technology Excellence Progam.
