
What is R.A.C.E. Visual Arts?
R.A.C.E. Visual Arts course, is a practical program for students in Years 7-10. It has
been designed to extend art making and visual communication skills to a very high level. This course equips students with the knowledge and understanding of effective and creative problem solving and design techniques and allows students to express themselves confidently. R.A.C.E. Visual Arts provides students with real and viable pathways connecting students to the Creative Arts industry.
The course offers an opportunity to exhibit art works as a group in a variety of locations and venues, as well as participate in a selection of local and national Art competitions.
Who can take part?
Students who have been identified as gifted and talented in the application and interview process. R.A.C.E. Visual Arts students must also select classroom Art as an elective subject.
What does the course look like?
The R.A.C.E. Visual Arts course runs over 3 years (Years 7, 8 and 9) with Year 10 by invitation only for those students who have demonstrated a high-level of engagement and high-level outcomes in previous years whilst enrolled in the R.A.C.E. Visual Arts course.
Each year the course content will cover a range of Visual Arts materials, techniques and processes over three to four units of work. These units of work may focus on or combine one or more of the following Art disciplines; drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional art.
