The Year 7 to Year 10 RACE Visual Art course is a practical after-school excellence program designed to extend art making and visual communication skills.
The program is designed to equip students with knowledge and understanding of effective and creative problem solving and design techniques.
7-10 RACE Visual Art allows students to express themselves confidently, believing in the worth of their self and their art works and provides students with real and viable pathways connecting students to the Creative Arts Industry locally, nationally and internationally.
The course is further enhanced by providing opportunities to workshop with professional practicing artists.
The focus on professional pathways ensures students participate in a selection of local, state and national art competitions such as the Young Australian Art Awards and The Cairns Show. The course offers skills in curating exhibitions as a group and individually in a variety of local, national and international venues.
Our main exhibition is held annually at the Kite Gallery in the CBD. The exhibitions, as well as local events such as the Redlynch State College Family Festival, are also used as a platform to sell student art pieces, often with money going back to the artist.
