The year 6 to year 8 Junior Visual Arts RACE course is a practical after school excellence program designed to extend art making and visual communication skills. Equipping students with the knowledge and understanding of effective and creative problem solving and design techniques, Junior RACE Art allows students to express themselves confidently; believing in the worth of their self and their art works. Junior RACE Art provides students with real and viable pathways connecting students to the Creative Arts Industry locally and nationally.
The focus on professional pathways ensure that students will participate in a selection of local, state and national art competitions such as the “Silk Cut Lino Awards”, “The Young Archies” (the youth “Archibald Prize” competition) and the “Young Australian Art Awards”. The course offers further skilling in exhibiting art works as a group, learning industry practices of curating, hanging and installing works, as well as the platform to sell their art pieces at local events. The Junior RACE Art course is further enhanced with the opportunity to workshop with professional practicing artists, local curators and events managers.
