The RACE Drama course (offered to Redlynch State College students in Years 6 to 10) is a three year extension program for students who have been identified as being gifted and talented in the subject area of Drama. The RACE Drama program offers identified students the opportunity to extend and enhance their skills within the subject of Drama, with like-minded peers, at an accelerated pace. Students will be involved in a specialised program which provides a range of extra-curricular opportunities for performances. The RACE Drama program allows students to express themselves in a safe, fun and practical environment which leads to self-development of a highly confident, highly skilled, Drama student. The RACE Drama program also provides students with real and viable pathways connecting students to the Performing Arts Industry both at a local and national level.
The RACE Drama program is led by expert teachers who have a degree in the Arts as well as professional industry experience. Students are given the opportunity to attend workshops with Arts industry representatives and specialist guest teachers. The focus on professional pathways ensures that students will participate in a wide variety of performances including live ensemble productions, the Cairns Eisteddfod and community Arts festivals. To further enhance the students’ performance skills and experiences, students may also embark on theatre excursions, attend a two day Drama camp and participate in an interstate tour.
