What is R.A.C.E. Dance?
R.A.C.E. Dance is an extension program
f
or students in Yea
rs 7 - 12. The program
o
ffers students the opportunity to extend
a
nd enhance dance skills with
li
ke-minded
p
eers at an accelerated pace. Students will
b
e involved in a specialised program which
p
rovides a range of extra-curricular
o
pportunities for performances. The R.A.C.E. Dance program
a
llows students to express themselves in a safe, fun and practical
e
nvironment, which leads to self- development of a highly
c
onfident, highly skilled dance student.
The program also provides students with real and viable
p
athways connecting students to the Performing Arts industry
b
oth at a local and national level.
Who can take part?
R.A.C.E. Students who have been identified as gifted and
t
alented in the application and audition process.
R
.A.C.E. Dance students must also select classroom Dance as an
e
lective subject.
What does the course look like?
Students refine and strengthen their dance technique with
w
eekly classes from the International Dance Technique Syllabus,
a
s well as explore new methods of styles through an early
i
n
tensive full day dance workshop with their R.A.C.E. Dance
t
eacher or industry professional. Students will develop dance
r
outines that will be performed in numerous dance festivals
a
nd competitions. The year reaches its climax with the annual
S
howcase performance where troupes perform their routines as
w
ell as other large-scale pieces of choreography, all on the main
s
tage of a quality venue.
