Humanities at Redlynch State College equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand and engage with the world around them. Our curriculum fosters critical thinking, ethical reasoning, valuable research and analytical skills, and informed decision-making, with the goal to prepare students for a wide range of career pathways.
Junior Secondary (Years 7-10) - Students develop foundational knowledge and skills across key subject areas:
- History – Exploring past events, their causes and consequences, and their influence on the world.
- Geography – Investigating the physical and human aspects of the world, including
- sustainability.
- Economics & Business – Understanding economic systems, financial literacy, and business principles.
- Civics & Citizenship – Developing responsible, active participation in democratic processes and communities.
- Philosophy, Politics, & Psychology – Encouraging deep thinking about society, governance, and humanity.
- Accounting, Business, & Economics – Developing financial literacy and an understanding of economic and business principles.
These studies lay the foundation for our Senior Secondary (Years 11-12) specialisations, including Legal Studies, Philosophy & Reason, Accounting,
Economics, Psychology, and Modern & Ancient History, and prepare students for pathways in law, politics, business, journalism, and beyond.
During their Humanities studies at Redlynch State College, students are offered a variety of opportunities to apply their learning through various Australian
and international competitions; attend a wide range of excursions; engage in real-world experiences such as mock court; and enhance their knowledge and career readiness through industry-recognised certificates. Our department is committed to fostering lifelong learners who think independently, engage in meaningful discussions and learning experiences, and contribute actively to society.
