At Redlynch State College, learning a language is more than just words—it’s a gateway to new cultures, global connections, and exciting opportunities. Our Languages program empowers students to communicate meaningfully across
different linguistic and cultural landscapes, fostering critical thinking, adaptability, and a deeper appreciation of the world.
Students don’t just learn a language; they experience it. Through interactive lessons, cultural exploration, and real-world applications, they gain the confidence to express themselves in Japanese, French, or Spanish. This dynamic learning process encourages students to reflect on their own language and culture while engaging with new perspectives.
We offer three language pathways:
- Japanese (Prep – Year 12)
- French (Years 7 – 12)
- Spanish (Years 7 – 9)
In the senior years (Years 10 – 12), Japanese and French are General Subjects, contributing to the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and ATAR results, opening doors to university studies and global careers.
Program Structure
- Primary (Prep – Year 6): Japanese (one lesson per week)
- Year 7: Japanese, French, or Spanish (two 70-minute lessons per week for one semester)
- Year 8: Japanese, French, or Spanish (two 70-minute lessons per week)
- Year 9: Japanese, French, or Spanish as an elective (two 70-minute lessons per week)
- Years 10 – 12: Japanese or French as an elective (three 70-minute lessons per week)
