What is RSC Robotics?
At Redlynch State College, students in Years 2–7 can explore the dynamic world of robotics — where creativity meets innovation. This extra-curricular enrichment program provides students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Through inquiry-based and problem-based learning, students develop essential skills such as teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving. Participation in in-school, regional and state competitions further enhances these capabilities and builds confidence for success both in school and beyond.
Who can apply?
The program is open to students in Years 2–7 who demonstrate a strong interest and aptitude in STEM. Entry is selective and based on an application process. Students are expected to maintain high standards in academic achievement, behaviour and attendance.
Program Structure
RSC Robotics is delivered across three progressive strands:
• RoboRookies (Years 2–3) – A fun and engaging introduction to robotics and coding fundamentals.
• RoboTinkerers (Years 4–5) – Intermediate challenges in design, engineering and programming.
• RoboArchitects (Years 6–7) – Advanced robotics, preparing students for secondary STEM pathways and competitions.
Future Pathways
The Robotics Program supports skill development aligned with our Science and Technology Excellence pathways in Years 8–10. Students build strong foundations for further study in engineering, physics, digital technologies, electronics and design. These skills can open doors to future careers in engineering, robotics, mechanics, software development and related industries.
Program Purpose
The Robotics Program provides both practical and theoretical STEM experiences through a variety of robotics challenges. Students strengthen their skills in design thinking, problem-solving and collaboration, while participating in in-school, regional and state competitions.
